Discord's free upload limit is 20 MB

Discord measures the original file, before any compression. As of August 2026 mobile works the same way as desktop, so the size you see in your file manager is the size that counts.

Discord also says it's experimenting with different upload limits, so you might see a higher one for a while. It doesn't spell out what happens to a file over the limit; it points you to Nitro.

Discord's answer is Nitro: Nitro Basic gives you 50 MB and Nitro up to 500 MB. That covers a clip or a big screenshot, not a full match recording or a project folder.

Paste a download.fyi link in the channel or DM instead. The file streams from your computer straight to the person who opens it, at any size, and the link is three short words.

Live links work while your tab is open. To leave a file for people to grab over the next few days, a pass keeps the file online for 14 days (up to 100 GB, $5) or 30 days (up to 500 GB, $9), paid once.
