Smash vs download.fyi
Smash is the most generous stored option here: no sign-up, no size limit, and free links that last 7 days. The catch is that anything over 2 GB waits in a queue behind paying users. download.fyi sends any size at once, but only while your tab is open.
Numbers checked outubro de 2026. Each one links to where it came from.

Where Smash is better
Free links last 7 days and you don't have to stay online. That's more than twice WeTransfer's free 3 days, and there's no account.
Password protection is free, and recipients can preview video, audio and images before they download.
Files are stored close to you on AWS: in Paris if you're in France, in Frankfurt if you're in Germany. That matters if your company cares where data sits.
There are macOS, iOS and Android apps and an Outlook plugin.
Where download.fyi is better
Big files don't wait. On Smash's free plan, transfers over 2 GB join a queue behind Pro transfers. A download.fyi link starts streaming as soon as they open it, at any size.
Nothing to verify: no email, no account.
End to end on live links: only the two browsers can read the file. Smash encrypts with SSL/TLS and 256-bit AES and keeps the file on its servers.
You can pay once. A pass keeps the file online for 14 days (up to 100 GB, $5) or 30 days (up to 500 GB, $9), paid once. Smash Pro is a subscription: $10 a month, or $72 a year billed annually (US prices; VAT may apply), with transfers kept up to 30 days and 1 TB of storage. If you send big files every week, Pro may work out better.
Which to pick
Pick Smash when the file has to wait a few days for someone, especially if it's under 2 GB or you don't mind the queue. Pick download.fyi when they're ready now and the file is big.

Yes, with a queue. Smash's free plan has no size limit, but transfers over 2 GB join a queue behind Pro transfers, so they take longer to arrive.
How long do Smash links last?
7 days on the free plan. Paid plans let you choose anything from 1 to 30 days.
Do I need an account for Smash?
No. You give your email, and Smash verifies it the first time you send.
