Buying a pass
There's nothing to buy up front. Send a file first. When your link is ready, choose “Keep it 14 days” or “Keep it 30 days” and pay with Stripe without leaving the page. Keep the tab open while your files upload, then close it whenever you like.
Questions
- What happens when I close the tab?
- On a free link, the link stops working right away. Anyone still downloading is cut off, and nothing is left on our servers, because the file was never there. With a pass, you can close the tab once the upload has finished, and the same link keeps working until the pass runs out.
- Is it encrypted?
- Yes. Live transfers are end-to-end encrypted between the two browsers with a key made for that one transfer, including when the bytes pass through our relay. With a pass, your browser encrypts every file before it uploads. We store the encrypted files but never the link that unlocks them. Anyone with the link can open the files, so share it the way you'd share a key.
- Can people download it more than once?
- Yes. On a live link, anyone with the link can download while your tab is open, and each download streams straight from your tab. With a pass there's no download limit: anyone with the link can download as often as they like until it expires.
- Is there a size limit?
- Not on live links. The file streams from your browser, so any size works. A 14-day pass covers up to 100 GB per link and a 30-day pass up to 500 GB.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Not to send, not to receive, not to pay. Stripe asks for an email address only to send your receipt.
- What happens when a pass ends?
- The link stops working and the files are deleted within about an hour. The pass doesn't renew and you're never charged again.
- Can I get a refund?
- Email contact@download.fyi with the receipt Stripe sent you and tell us what went wrong. If a kept link didn't work as promised, you get your money back. Don't send us the link itself.
